Building on the success of the 2017 and 2018 DELTAS Africa Annual Grantees Meetings and the positive outcomes of the DELTAS Africa Midterm review, The African Academy of Sciences (The AAS) in partnership with the Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa (MARCAD), Developing Excellence in Leadership and Genetic Training for Malaria Elimination in Sub Saharan Africa (DELGEME) and Afrique One African Science Partnership for Intervention Research Excellence (Afrique One ASPIRE) will be hosting the 2019 DELTAS Africa Scientific Conference at the King Fahd Palace Hotel, Route des Almadies, B.P: 8181 Dakar, Senegal from 15 – 18 July 2019. The Conference has become the most important annual gathering in the DELTAS Africa community for scientists, experts and institutions promoting The Academy’s vision of transformed lives through fostering excellence in implementing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) programmes. The objective of this conference is to assemble DELTAS scholars, trainees and practitioners from diverse disciplines who are involved in carrying out research and other collaborative activities in all the thematic areas of the DELTAS Africa programme. We expect this will provide a platform for DELTAS Africa trainees in particular to showcase the excellent scientific research being funded through the DELTAS Africa grant. Our goal is to bring together about 400 attendees from the 11 DELTAS Africa networks and associated programmes, partner institutions, policymakers and other key stakeholders, some as keynote speakers, session presenters, discussants, and others as active participants/observers for the three-day event in Dakar, Senegal.
